What are my patio cover options?

We build traditional patio covers with shingles to match the house or standing seam metal roofs. We also offer 4K Aluminum patio covers with insulated roof panels, and 4K Aluminum pergolas. Cedar and pine framing, ceiling finishes, lighting and fans give you different ways to make the space your own.

What should I consider for a Katy backyard?

For a Katy or Cinco Ranch backyard, an attached cover off the back of the house can connect indoor living with a place to sit, cook and gather outside. The existing roofline and rear windows help shape the design. In HOA communities, we review the current guidelines alongside your ideas before preparing the plans.

How we help you choose

We’ll steer you toward the best product for what matters to you, what you want to achieve and how you’ll use the space. There is not one answer for every backyard, so we’ll give you more than one option and explain what each means for the full design. HPC is a locally owned, owner-led Houston company founded by Richard Hillier, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

What else should I know?

What drives the cost of a covered patio?

The size, roof connection, post spacing, materials and ceiling finish affect the cost, along with lighting, fans, utilities and any kitchen or patio surface included. Most projects include more than the cover itself, so your proposal reflects your full design.

Will a shingle roof match my house?

Usually, yes, if the roof has enough slope. Matching shingles and a roof tied into the home can help the cover look like it was built with the house. Some attached covers need that tie-in to make shingles work.

How does roof slope affect my patio cover?

Shingles need enough slope. Standard application starts at 4:12; a slope from 2:12 to under 4:12 requires extra underlayment, and below 2:12 shingles are not an option. Standing seam metal and aluminum can offer lower-slope options, depending on the selected system. We work through the roof connection and drainage details, and covers are engineered and permitted to local code.

How should I prepare for an in-person design consultation?

Have your property survey available. We’ll meet you at your home, look at the space together and discuss what you want to build and what you are comfortable investing. We handle the HOA requirements and submittal.
