How do you install pavers?
Every HPC paver project follows the same multi-step process. We evaluate the existing soil, excavate to the right depth, grade for drainage, and compact the native soil. Where soil conditions call for it, we add geotextile fabric. Then we build a crushed stone base compacted in layers, screed a 1" sand bed, set the pavers, lock in the edge restraint, plate-compact the surface, and sweep in polymeric sand to lock the joints. Most of the work happens below the surface, and that's what makes a patio last.
Why do some paver patios sink or shift?
Almost always because of what's underneath. When pavers are laid on loose soil and sand without a properly compacted base, Houston's clay soil moves and the patio moves with it. A compacted stone base built for the existing soil, with edge restraint set on the base, keeps pavers in place for decades.
Pavers or concrete: which is better?
For most patios, walkways and pool decks, pavers. They're made from stronger concrete, the joints let them flex with our soil instead of cracking, and they can be lifted and reset if you ever need repairs or access to utilities underneath. A cracked concrete slab has to be cut out and patched, and the patch never matches.
How long does a paver patio last?
A properly installed paver patio lasts for decades. The base underneath determines how long it holds up, which is why we put so much into it.
How much does a paver patio cost?
Smaller projects start around $5,000, and a generous seating area with room for a table and chairs typically runs around $15,000. Size, pattern, site prep and access all affect the final price.
